It seems WorldVentures has finally exhausted the “access to travel discounts” pyramid model – with the company looking to expand into nutrition. According to a recently filed lawsuit, mid last year WorldVentures executed a mutual confidentiality agreement with Abboud Barakat and his distribution company, Advanced Wellness Solutions. Following a series of reported non-payment of owed commissions, David Wood issued World Ventures with multiple deadlines. A class-action lawsuit that alleges WorldVentures is an illegal pyramid scheme was filed earlier this year. This one slipped under the radar, so you’ll have to forgive the late coverage as I only found about the lawsuit yesterday.

Back in February 2014, the Norwegian Gaming Board ruled World Ventures was an illegal pyramid scheme. World Ventures filed an appeal, which they lost later that year in November. Within a month World Ventures ceased operating in Norway. Some Norwegian-based affiliates however continue to market World Ventures internationally. Last April the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism and Culture declared WorldVentures was operating illegally in the country. This was based on the fact that, at the time, ‘the Ministry of Tourism and Culture (had not) issue(d) a license to WorldVentures‘. Despite reports late last week suggesting the NCC were going to publish their findings on several investigated MLM opportunities, the agency has today clarified there will be no public updates on the outcome. Despite the overall lack of comment, NCC spokesperson Trevor Hattingh did give one of the companies investigated the all-clear.

Back in 2013 the Norwegian Gaming Board launched an investigation into WorldVentures. In 2014 the Gaming Board concluded WorldVentures was an “illegal pyramid scheme”.
