OneCoin’s Aamer Abdulaziz Ahmed Salman has been sentenced to eighteen months prison.

Salman’s March 12th judgment also sees him forfeit $227.9 million via a consented to forfeiture order.

Abdulaziz popped up on BehindMLM’s radar in 2019, after he came up in Konstantin Ignatov’s testimony during the Mark Scott trial.

Amer Abdulaziz, after he stole €100m from OneCoin, he started buying racehorses for, like, €25m. [He was] one of the main money-launderers for Ruja.

Abdulaziz (right) laundered money for Ruja Ignatova through Phoenix Fund Investments LLC.

In response to Ignatov’s testimony, Abdulaziz’s horse racing company, Phoenix Thoroughbred, issued the following statement;

Phoenix Fund Investments LLC categorically denies all allegations made against it, and its owner Mr. Amer Abdulaziz, in legal proceedings against OneCoin and its conspirators in the US.

Phoenix Fund Investments LLC believes that the firm and Mr. Amer Abdulaziz have acted according to the law at all times, and will vigorously contest all allegations of wrongdoing.

Sometime after, Abdulaziz learned he’d been indicted under seal in the US. A March 12th Sentencing Memorandum filed by Abdulaziz reveals the indictment prompted him to begin negotiating with New York prosecutors.

When he learned there was a sealed indictment in this district, [Abdulaziz] retained counsel in New York, reached out to the prosecutors here and ultimately voluntarily traveled to New York from Dubai, which does not have an extradition treaty with the United States.

[Abdulaziz] provided the prosecutors with extensive, detailed, truthful and helpful information about different people involved in the OneCoin scheme.

Negotiations between Abdulaziz and New York prosecutors saw him agree to board a plane in Dubai on August 5th, 2021.

[Abdulaziz] and his lawyers were scheduled to be on a 2AM flight direct from Dubai to New York.

His lawyers passed through a customs check point in Dubai, but Mr. Abdulaziz was not permitted to pass.

Rather, he was detained by Dubai police on an Interpol Red Notice from the United States in connection with this case.

Details aren’t clear but Abdulaziz managed to “surrender to the U.S.” on August 12th, 2021.

A March 12th, 2026 superseding indictment charges Abdulaziz with one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering.

In or about 2017, AAMER ABDULAZIZ AHMED SALMAN … received approximately $225 million in proceeds of the “OneCoin” wire fraud scheme sent to an entity that he controlled for the purpose of concealing the source, ownership, and control of those funds.

One or about March 16, 2017 and on or about September 12, 2017, as ABDULAZIZ arranged to make transfers of 8.7 million and 1.6 million, respectively, of proceeds of the “OneCoin” wire fraud scheme to entities controlled by individuals associated with “OneCoin”, for the purpose of concealing the source, ownership, and control of those funds.

Sentencing proceedings followed, resulting in Abdulaziz’s forfeiture order and eighteen month sentence. A motion from Abdulaziz requesting compassionate release was denied.
