Evidently QNet International’s pyramid scheme isn’t doing to well, prompting the company to use human trafficking as a recruitment tool.

No, that’s not a play on words. Authorities in Liberia have made arrests, smashing QNet International’s human trafficking ring.

Earlier this month Front Page Africa reported Qnet was at the center of a “major human trafficking ring”.

FPA investigation discovered that the company, Qnet International, has been bringing children and other young adults to Liberia from neighboring countries – mainly Sierra Leone, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Senegal, and Mali.

FPA was unable to independently verify if the Qnet in Liberia is associated with Chinese company, QNet Ltd., which is based in Hong Kong.

The Chinese firm is a multi-level marketing company owned by the QI Group.

QNet was founded by Vijay Eswaran, who runs the company from Malaysia.

Once trafficked into Liberia under false pretenses, victims were locked up in “compounds” and put to work marketing QNet.

Recounted one victim to Front Page Africa;

The day I reached in Duala [Monrovia], the company’s agent picked me up, brought me to the company’s office in Paynesville and took all the money from me.

After they took the money from me, they told me to go and bring two other persons, telling me, ‘that’s the business we are doing’.”

Liberia’s National Police have been investigating the case, and on June 23rd made two arrests.

Those arrests led to raids on QNet offices and human trafficking compounds in Liberia last Wednesday.

Suspect Abu Kamara was kept in detention while Sheriff Gavi was released to his lawyer.

It is alleged by the victims that Abu Kamara was the one who collected their monies and some phones. While it is also established that Sheriff Gavi is head of Qnet International in Liberia.

Under interrogation Kamara claimed someone going by Monde Konneh did the actual trafficking.

He (Konneh) told me the children were coming to work, to do business. Network marketing business with Qnet International.

Kamara claims Konneh is currently hiding out in neighboring Guinea.

The investigation continues. Any updates on the case will be provided below.
