VIM Review: Brent Payne reboots Liberty League (again)
VIM operates in the personal development MLM niche. The company operates from two known website domains:
- wearevim.com – registered in October 2017, private registration last updated on October 3rd, 2023
- vimnow.com – registered in December 2013, private registration last updated on December 12th, 2024
Heading up VIM we have co-founders Brent Payne and Linda Baer.
Brent Payne first popped up on BehindMLM’s radar as co-founder of Liberty League.
After a nine year run, Liberty League collapsed in mid 2009.
Payne returned in mid 2010 with the launch of Avant, essentially his own spin on a Liberty League reboot.
Avant failed to capture the traction of Liberty League. In 2012 Payne switched gears and launched Real Estate Worldwide.
After Real Estate Worldwide promptly collapsed, VIM launched in 2013.
BehindMLM reviewed RenovoVita in April 2020, noting Payne, Baer and Eddie Asiano as co-founders.
RenovoVita markets a range of nutritional supplements with a focus on anti-aging.
The company is still operational at time of publication, although there’s no mention of Payne or Baer on the “about us” page on RenovoVita’s website. Ed Asiano appears to have disappeared altogether.
Baer still features on RenovoVita’s social media accounts. Payne’s last appearance on RenovoVita’s official FaceBook page was October 2024.
In BehindMLM’s RenovoVita review we noted mention of VIM in Payne’s corporate bio. It seems Payne has been out there personally pitching VIM, such that I received a reader request to review VIM independently.
Read on for a full review of VIM’s MLM opportunity.
VIM’s Products
VIM has no retailable products or services. Promoters are only able to market VIM promoter membership itself.
VIM promoter membership, aka “VIM Essential”, is $47 a month.
VIM Essential is your starting point for lasting transformation — a powerful combination of structure, community, and clarity to help you get focused, build better habits, and start moving with purpose.
There are also two additional upsells:
- VIM Effect – “the system that build you – from the inside out”, $497 one-time
- VIM Elite – “unlock the full spectrum of growth: business, leadership and lifestyle”, $1997 one-time plus
Note that a VIM Essential membership is required to access VIM Effect and VIM Elite.
VIM Elite also includes Elevate and Beyond Freedom;
VIM Elevate is a 72-day immersive experience that will transform how you think, feel, and operate.
Beyond Freedom is not another personal growth course — it’s a cinematic, soul-stirring journey into what’s possible when real people decide to rewrite their story.
VIM doesn’t disclose who’s behind their courses, however given his past it’s assumed to be Brent Payne.
VIM’s Compensation Plan
VIM’s compensation plan pays on the sale of $1995 memberships.
Commissions are paid down two levels of recruitment (unilevel):
- personal sales – $1000
- level 2 – $200
Joining VIM
VIM’s “VIM Essential” promoter membership is $47 a month.
VIM also sells the “VIMBiz System”, pitched as “an advanced, personalized marketing and contact management system”.
Access to VIMBiz System is an additional $29.95 a month.
VIM Conclusion
VIM is essentially another reboot of Liberty League, complete with Liberty League’s compliance issues.
Curiously, while Avant recycled “Elevate” in place of Liberty League’s “Beyond Freedom”, VIM recycles both courses in its $1997 Elite upsell.
Liberty League was found to be a pyramid scheme in Australia in 2009. The scam collapsed shortly thereafter.
The issue with Liberty League was there was no retail offering. Promoter membership was bundled into access to Liberty League’s courses, meaning everyone was a promoter.
VIM has the same problem. VIM’s “VIM Essential” membership tier is what the company calls “referral ready”;
Referral-Ready – Start earning when you share Essential with others — a great way to grow while you grow
With no retail offering (and therefore no retail customers), VIM too is a pyramid scheme.
The FTC has been clear on MLM companies without retail sales being pyramid schemes that operate illegally.
As the VIM’s courses themselves, whatever value they might provide is undercut by VIM’s fraudulent business model.
This ties into there being way to gauge VIM’s courses in the retail market, as there is no retail offering.
As with all MLM pyramid schemes, once promoter recruitment dries up so too will commissions.
This will see those at the bottom of VIM’s pyramid scheme eventually stop paying $47 a month.
This in turn will see promoters above these promoters stop getting paid. Unless new suckers are found, these promoters will soon also stop paying $47 a month.
Once enough VIM promoters stop paying $47 a month, an irreversible collapse is triggered.
Math guarantees that when a pyramid scheme collapses, the majority of participants lose money.
