Marco Ochoa settles iComTech fraud with CFTC for $1M
Marco A. Ruiz Ochoa has settled civil iComTech fraud charges with the CFTC.
As per the terms of the settlement, Ochoa is
- subject to a permanent injunction prohibiting further Commodities Act violations and anything to do with registered trading; and
- jointly liable for $1,098,920 in restitution.
iComTech was an MLM crypto Ponzi launched in 2018.
Ochoa (right) is jointly liable for restitution with co-defendants David Carmona, Juan Parra, Moses Valdez and David Brend, each subject to default judgment in October.
In addition to a civil fraud lawsuit from the CFTC, Carmona, Ochoa and Brend were also criminally charged in 2022.
David Carmona, iComTech’s founder, was sentenced to ten years in prison in October.
Ochoa himself was sentenced to five years in prison in January 2024. David Brend’s sentencing is pending.
A fourth iComTech criminal defendant, Gustavo Rodriguez, was sentenced to eight years in prison last month.
