Valentus Review: Autoship recruitment trumps retail
Valentus launched in late 2014 and are headed up by CEO and Founder, Dave Jordan.
In Latin, the word “Valentus” means “prevail,” defined as proving to be superior in strength, power, and influence.
A “product return” address in the US state of Nevada is provided on the Valentus website, however it is unclear whether or not this is where Valentus actually operate from.
A Google search of the Nevada address brings up United Fulfillment Solutions, who claim to be a ‘pick pack order processor, inventory manager, return processor, assembly partner, data processer (and) multiple facility‘.
The address provided by Valentus doesn’t differentiate from that of UFS, suggesting Valentus uses UFS for order fulfillment. A corporate address is not disclosed on the Valentus website.
Dave Jordan meanwhile first popped up on BehindMLM’s radar as a LiveSmart affiliate. Back in 2011 we ran a story covering Jordan’s giving away of sports memorabilia as a marketing angle.
When Jordan left LiveSmart 360 is unclear but it was presumably before the launch of Valentus (LiveSmart 360 itself recently collapsed).
Read on for a full review of the Valentus MLM business opportunity.
The Valentus Product Line
Valentus market a range of what they call “functional beverages”;
With the Prevail line of functional beverages, people all over the world are experiencing a new kind of health and vitality.
Formulated with purest natural ingredients from some of the most pristine locations on the planet, we pride ourselves not only on creating product that get results, but on creating products that are good for your body.
Products featured on the Valentus website include:
- Prevail SlimRoast – a “delicious Italian dark roast coffee formulated with natural appetite suppressants, feel good ingredients and detox components”
- Prevail Energy – “designed to give you a healthy boost of energy, without the harmful artificial stimulants”
- Prevail Immune Boost – “packed with antioxidants from some of the most nutrient-rich fruit and vegetable extracts on the planet”
- Prevail Trim – “formulated with natural appetite suppressants and ingredients to help detoxify your body”
Unfortunately retail pricing is not provided on the Valentus website.
A “buy now” button is present on the company’s product pages, however clicking through sees the website demand a “referring member” code.
The Valentus Compensation Plan
The Valentus compensation plan primarily focuses on affiliates signing up for monthly autoship and recruiting others who do the same.
Commission Qualification
Silver Valentus affiliates are required to generate 50 PV a month in order to qualify for commissions.
PV stands for “Personal Volume” and are retail customer sales, along with an affiliate’s own purchase of product.
The Valentus compensation plan equates 50 PV to a $59 purchase of “a box”. What is in “a box” is not clarified.
Gold to Crown Ambassador ranked affiliates are required to maintain a standing 100 BV a month autoship order (~$129).
Valentus Affiliate Ranks
There are thirteen affiliate ranks within the Valentus compensation plan.
Along with their respective qualification criteria, they are as follows:
- Silver – maintain 50 PV a month and recruit at least two affiliates who also maintain 50 PV a month
- Gold – maintain a monthly 100 PV autoship order, recruit 2 Silver or higher ranked affiliates and have a weekly lesser binary side volume of at least 500 GV
- Platinum – maintain a monthly 100 PV autoship order, recruit 2 Gold or higher ranked affiliates and have a weekly lesser binary side volume of at least 1000 GV
- Ruby – maintain a monthly 100 PV autoship order, recruit 2 Platinum or higher ranked affiliates and have a weekly lesser binary side volume of at least 2000 GV
- Emerald – maintain a monthly 100 PV autoship order, recruit 3 Ruby or higher ranked affiliates and have a weekly lesser binary side volume of at least 5000 GV
- Diamond – maintain a monthly 100 PV autoship order, recruit 3 Emerald or higher ranked affiliates and have a weekly lesser binary side volume of at least 15,000 GV
- Double Diamond – maintain a monthly 100 PV autoship order, recruit 3 Emerald and 1 Diamond or higher ranked affiliates and have a weekly lesser binary side volume of at least 30,000 GV
- Triple Diamond – maintain a monthly 100 PV autoship order, maintain 3 Emerald and 1 Diamond or higher ranked affiliates and have a weekly lesser binary side volume of at least 100,000 GV

- Crown Diamond – maintain a monthly 100 PV autoship order, maintain 4 Diamond or higher ranked affiliates and have a weekly lesser binary side volume of at least 1,000,000 GV
- Crown Ambassador – maintain a monthly 100 PV autoship order, maintain 4 Diamond or higher ranked affiliates and have a weekly lesser binary side volume of at least 1,500,000 GV
Retail Commissions
Valentus offer up a 25% retail commission on the sale of products to retail customers.
Recruitment Commissions
Valentus affiliate fees range from $59 to $499, with existing affiliates paid to recruit new affiliates as follows:
- recruit a Basic affiliate ($59) = $20 commission
- recruit a Starter affiliate ($129) = $40 commission
- recruit an Advanced affiliate ($199) = $60 commission
- recruit a Business Builder affiliate ($499) = $100 commission
Residual Commissions
Residual commissions in Valentus are paid out via a binary compensation structure.
A binary compensation structure places an affiliate the top of a binary team, split into two sides (left and right):
As new Valentus affiliates are recruited an affiliate’s binary team grows. Each new level of a binary team is generated by splitting the previous level’s positions into another two positions each.
At the end of each week sales volume across both binary sides is calculated, with affiliates paid for each 200 BV on the stronger binary side matched with 100 BV on the weaker side.
This match is referred to as a “cycle”.
- Silver ranked affiliates are paid $5 per cycle
- Gold and Platinum affiliates are paid $10
- Ruby and higher affiliates are paid $20
BV stands for “Business Volume” and is sales volume generated by affiliates on both sides of the binary team.
Note that regardless of the size of an affiliate’s binary team or how much sales volume is generated, Valentus cap weekly binary commissions according to rank:
- Silver – $25 a week
- Gold – $100 a week
- Platinum – $200 a week
- Ruby – $400 a week
- Emerald – $1000 a week
- Diamond – $2000 a week
- Double Diamond – $4000 a week
- Triple Diamond – $8000 a week
- Blue Diamond – $16,000 a week
- Royal Diamond – $32,000 a week
- Black Diamond – $48,000 a week
- Crown Diamond – $70,000 a week
- Crown Ambassador – $100,000 a week
Matching Bonus
An affiliate is able to earn a matching bonus on binary earnings of their downline.
How much of a percentage and how many recruitment levels is matched is determined by a Valentus affiliate’s rank:
- Silver – 10% on level 1 (personally recruited affiliates)
- Gold – 15% on level 1
- Platinum – 20% on level 1 and 15% on level 2
- Ruby – 25% on level 1, 20% on level 2, 10% on level 3 and 5% on level 4
- Emerald and Diamond – 25% on level 1, 20% on level 2, 15% on level 3, 10% on level 4 and 5% on level 5
- Blue Diamond and Royal Diamond – 25% on level 1, 20% on level 2, 15% on level 3, 10% on level 4, 5% on level 5 and 3% on level 6
- Black Diamond or higher – 25% on level 1, 20% on level 2, 15% on level 3, 10% on level 4, 5% on level 5, 3% on level 6 and 2% on level 7
Legacy Enrollment Bonus
The Legacy Enrollment Bonus is a commission that incentivizes Business Builder affiliate recruitment.
The bonus is paid out via a 3-up compensation structure, which sees an affiliate pass up a $100 a week commission on their first three recruited Business Builder affiliates.
From the fourth recruited Business Builder affiliate, a $100 a week commission is paid out.
In turn, personally recruited affiliates must also pass up $100 a week commissions from their first thee recruited Business Builder affiliates.
To qualify for the Legacy Enrollment Bonus, an affiliate must be at the Ruby rank and have a standing 100 PV a month autoship order.
Enrollment Pool Bonus
The Enrollment Pool Bonus is made up of 1% of Valentus’ company-wide sales volume.
Affiliates can earn a share in the Enrollment Pool Bonus by having a standing 100 PV a month autoship order and recruiting three Business Builder affiliates.
Provided the required autoship order is in place, each group of three Business Builder affiliates recruited that month generates a share in the Enrollment Pool Bonus (shares expire each month).
Car Bonus
The Car Bonus is a monthly bonus that kicks in at the Diamond rank as follows:
- Diamond – $400
- Double Diamond – $800
- Triple Diamond – $1000
- Blue Diamond – $1500
- Royal Diamond and Black Diamond – $2000
- Crown Diamond and Crown Ambassador – $3000
Note that Valentus affiliates receive the car bonus after they’ve held a Diamond or higher rank for two consecutive months.
Joining Valentus
Affiliate membership with Valentus is tied to the purchase of an affiliate pack:
- Basic – $59
- Starter – $129 (buys Gold rank for two months)
- Advanced – $199 (buys Platinum rank for two months)
- Business Builder – $499 (buys Ruby rank with 100 PV a month autoship, upgrades to Platinum rank after 6 months)
Conclusion
The evident lack of retail focus in Valentus begins with the company’s website, which is devoid of retail pricing.
The company goes to the effort of having an online storefront, but fails to provide basic product information to the general public.
By all means restrict purchases without a referral code, but retail pricing should always be fully disclosed upfront.
Valetus’ compensation plan compliments this initial lack of retail focus in spades.
The two most pressing issues within the Valentus compensation plan are autoship recruitment, intertwined elements of “pay to play” .
Autoship is required for five out of the seven offered compensation plan components, with obvious incentives to sign up as a Business Builder and recruit others who do the same.
Those incentives come by way of Legacy Enrollment Bonus, which is basically a vehicle for autoship chain recruitment. And the Enrollment Pool Bonus isn’t too far behind.
Pay to play is evident in Valentus’ affiliate membership options, with affiliates able to purchase ranks that directly effect their commission payouts.
This alone is a core compliance issue within Valentus’ compensation plan.
At the end of the day an MLM opportunity needs to reward affiliates based on sales performance, with a healthy amount of that being retail sales.
Valentus instead demands affiliates sign up for autoship and recruit others who do the same, with retail able to be ignored completely.
Retail sales volume commission qualifiers would go some way to encourage retail, however the pay to play aspects of the compensation would still need to be reworked. Ditto recruitment commissions and autoship requirements.
The only retail incentive I found in Valentus pertained to existing preferred customers (non-affiliates):
Preferred customers purchase at wholesale $59.00 (USD) per box on auto order.
If they refer TWO Preferred Customers who set up and purchase an auto order (product value equal to or greater than their own auto order), then their next month’s auto order is FREE.
Which is nice for them, but why would an affiliate focus on this when the financial incentives for recruiting Business Builder autoship affiliates is so much greater?
In its current state, Valentus’ compensation plan is pretty comparable to that of Vemma’s… and we all know how that turned out.
Approach with caution.
Update 15th February 2023 – Following what appears to be a decline in business, Valentus has been sold off to product formula Paul Pearson.
Nevada corp ID NV20141309233, Entity Number E0241022014-3
No address given.
Jordan’s own address as shown in NV Corp Search shows Carson City, single family house, so “suite 40xx” shows this is a mailbox only.
Thanks for that. So it looks like it is the fulfillment company’s address.
Bit suss Valentus doesn’t seem to have its own corp address.
Search of the Carson City address shows that there are almost 1000+ companies registered there, according to Google. It’s just a mail forwarder.
The Valentus domain is registered to Jordan, using a P.O. box in East Grand Forks Minnesota
Zip code and Phone number does belong to MN, but East Grand Forks is a city of 10000 (or so). Doesn’t say much.
Valentus is a great company with unique products that work. Just like any MLM company, the focus is on recruitment but that doesn’t make it a company to “Approach with caution.”
The company provides a 100% money back guarantee within 30 days which is more than fair. All 4 products at this time are the same price.
Preferred customers or those not interested in the business side can get the products each month without paying the one time $20 fee to join as a distributor which is less than most companies that have annual fees for their websites.
Valentus allows the enroller gets one free product with only 2 preferred customers on autoship. Many companies use the “3 for free” plan.
There are 7 websites included free with an autoresponders series of follow up emails which is unique with no extra cost.
There are also 2 sites for purchasing retail only without signing up as a distributor.
The CEO Dave Jordan is a class leader and has the best reputation in the industry. Do your due diligence as always.
The focus on recruitment comes at the expense of retail focus.
An MLM company that focuses on affiliate recruitment is a product-based pyramid scheme. That’s very much something you should approach with caution.
Why is this price not disclosed on the Valentus website?
And out of curiosity, what’s your monthly retail sales volume versus recruited affiliate autoships Rob?
Valentus is NOT Vemma. We tell folks to continue their education, keep their jobs and to work their Valentus business part time. But with a full timers attitude.
In most every MLM focused on retailing you usually purchase a pack. In Valentus you are not buying your way into a position or rank you are purchasing 16 boxes of product to retail and consume and to use for sampling new potential customer. Each box has 24 sticks so 3 boxes are a months supply and easily consumed or retailed.
For example our incredible Slim Roast is up to two sticks a day so a person who is in the business can drink some #60 sticks of coffee a month while having 12 of the total #72 to sample #12 new customer prospects.
You can purchase product as a distributor for $59.95 one box and retail that box for $74.95. I can find people who would pay $300 !! Just to lose 8-12 lbs. In a month! And/or inches as one box achieves incredible results for everyone who drinks the Valentus powdered stick drink products.
I know most of these people where Valentus Slim Roast coffee changed their life! Anyone who purchases the business builder pack does so as the cost per box is cheaper wholesale per box than the smaller packs.
At $31 per box distributor cost for the business builder pack, each to be retailed at $74.95 is a great retail profit! Verses $33, $43 and $59 per box/boxes in the other 3 smaller packs.
At $499 the 16 box order is a great start to a strong retail business!! I was able to sell some 12 boxes at the retail price to people I meet on a daily business. I used other product for sampling and for consumption. I sold over 70% of my inventory retail! Easily!
Everybody drinks coffee and everybody wants to lose weight. So each individual can retail however many boxes they desire.
In my personal experience with Valentus a majority of folks easily retail more than half the boxes at retail and even more boxes are used as part of the business to mail out for samples to get more customers. So there is a huge retail profit and strong emphasis on retail.
Slim Roast is probably the most easily retailed product I’ve worked with in decades. Just last week I had five preferred customers sign up through my customer and distributor websites while having enrolled two others as distributors. So my numbers for the week? 5 preferred customers and two others who purchased the business builder pack.
We are not selling juice cans full of colorants, flavorants, preservatives, or additives. We are signing up customers in droves as you know a majority of people are leary of MLM but they certainly would love to drink coffee without diet changes and lose weight and inches!
Many of my customers upgrade to the smaller distributor packs before they realize they need a business builder pack as demand is massive due to the results.
I recommend a box as a customer. What have you got to lose? Weight?!!! Best retailing product in industry in decades in Slim Roast Coffee and the Valentus Prevail Energy.
There are 3 individual retail and customer acquisition oriented sites that distributors are placing where they desire on the internet and forwarding to their contacts.
Only one site is dedicated to enrolling someone as a distributor to earn income. Another site is dedicated to getting folks to purchase a business builder pack of coffee for retail.
So just having reviewed one distributor site is very misleading in your analysis. Maybe you should review the site I list along with the five other sites that distributors use in their back office distributors use in getting retail and preferred customers.
You seem to have unfairly misrepresented Valentus’retail and customer oriented focus.
My first 16 boxes which is a price of $499 well under attorney general guidelines for starting a home business across the USA is very reasonable. That’s roughly $1.41 a stick. And I can teach folks how to get their coffee stick at .077 per stick through commissions earnings so their retail profit is higher!
(Ozedit: recruitment spam removed)
Yeah, except reselling != retail and said packs come with compensation plan benefits (affiliate ranks, which means you’re purchasing them).
Furthermore most of Valentus’ compensation plan requires affiliate autoship.
I’m sure Vemma had some pseudo-compliance explanation for their packs too, in the end though it means nothing.
Retail in MLM requires funds entering the company via the sale of products to retail customers. Affiliates purchasing product from the company != retail.
I reviewed the Valentus corporate website. It’s devoid of retail focus and that’s a problem.
PS. Do not post your recruitment spam again.
And you don’t see the contradiction in that? That instead of SELLING (retailing) your first act is BUYING?
And do you recall Herbalife and Vemma’s sales speech? What was that Vemma slogan again… “2pak, one to drink and one to share”?
You haven’t sold anything… Yet you’ve made your upline money.
YOU are the consumer. Stop lying to yourself. Don’t use other people’s shady tactics to justify yet more shady tactics.
I returned product and Valentus will not refund me SCAM.
I work in the UK health and foodstuffs sector and I have tested many health products, including Valentus.
If they are good I often become a buyer. Many people do the same and some then become sellers. That’s a normal business process so let’s not knock it.
The sampling offer was for a few weeks for a low affordable cost. There was no hard sell and lots of information on each product, even clinical reports on each ingredient.
The refund policy and procedures are clearly written, and do not apply on returns of opened or damaged boxes for obvious reasons. My experience is the products are very good.
I’m also professionally qualified to assess responsible business operation standards. My opinion is Valentus resellers operate ethically and follow appropriate policies and procedures giving full and fair information to potential buyers and resellers.
Let’s please see respectful objective analysis of new entrants whose products can improve community health
Your opinion doesn’t trump the Valentus compensation plan, which favors affiliate autoship recruitment over retail sales.
You don’t specify whether you are a Valentus affiliate.
NO. I CANT FIND ANY CLINICAL REPORTS ON THE ACTUAL “FRESH” VALENTUS “POWDERS”; THAT MEANS NOT CITING 3RD PARTY OR OTHER SOURCES, ANECDOTALLY. …
AND CLIVE BONNY SHOW YOUR DATA ON THE VALENTUS TESTS, YOU PROFESSIONAL QUALIFIED ‘ASS’ESER OF RESPONSE…LOL
I notice ebay is now filling up with various priced goods from Valentus, which rather suggests people are struggling to sell.
Reason for this is that Dave changed the coffee. Said it was the same ingredients as the old but better.
The new coffee sucks! People gaining weight, throwing up… etc.
Now they are scrambling to bring back the original coffee but that won’t happen. Damage has been done. Affiliates dropping like flies.
Hi,
Your in depth layouts have been immensely helpful. My question is, who has the original formula? Is it not patented by Volpe?
Best,
Sandy
I’d imagine so. Doesn’t stop Valentus from providing a sample to a third-party and having them put together something similar though.
word on the street this morning (Saturday 5th August) is that a rep in the UK was raided by Trading Standards this week, had all stock seized and given warning of prosecution for trading illegally.
I am awaiting full details.
Valentus Limited in the UK was dissolved on 27th April 2017.
Laurence .. The word on the street is Correct. This company has eefected many lives, in fact damaged people here in the UK.
It is a disgrace and so are the top dogs. They need locking up in my opinion
