TelexFree VOIP “impossible to sell”

Yesterday saw dramatic scenes unfold at TelexFree’s Massachusetts’ head office, culminating in police being called to the scene to remove the company’s affiliates from the building. What we weren’t sure on at the time was who called the police. Luckily local Boston media were on location, with Wicked Local’s Daily News Staff reporting it was Steve [Continue reading…]

Police called in after TelexFree change old contracts

Despite the uncertainty over TelexFree’s ever-changing new compensation plan, those that had previously invested funds before March were reassured their weekly ROIs would continue to be paid out. This made little sense considering the company was under SEC investigation, but was largely seen as a way to keep their existing investors happy. I haven’t seen [Continue reading…]

Would TelexFree survive the SEC WCM777 shutdown?

Earlier this month, Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin’s office revealed that they were investigating a Marlborough-based telephone marketing company that has already been banned in Brazil for running a pyramid scheme. The inquiry stemmed from the office’s investigation into a similar company that was accused of targeting Brazilian immigrants in Massachusetts with a multi-marketing scam, [Continue reading…]

TelexFree owner shares “investment strategy”

Confusion surrounding TelexFree’s new compensation plan is still abundant, but general consensus among the company’s top affiliates seems to be the adoption of either a three or five position approach. Affiliates purchase three or five positions within the company (a minimum of one primary plus two secondary positions is required for commission qualification). Provided enough [Continue reading…]

TelexFree making selective payments in Brazil?

There’s been a lot of talk over the last few weeks over the R$500,000 the state of Acre has been ordered to pay up in the TelexFree case. General consensus is that it’s a legal strategy with TelexFree hoping that the case will be dismissed because Acre, one of Brazil’s poorest states, won’t foot the [Continue reading…]

TelexFree linked to “money laundering cartel”

Following a month-long investigation into TelexFree, Rwanda recently decided to ban the scheme. Upon announcing the decision, the Rwandan Ministry of Trade claimed TelexFree’s activities were “similar to that of a pyramid scheme” and raised concerns it was facilitating money laundering. Now, in a followup report released by the Ministry, the Rwandan government is accusing [Continue reading…]

TelexFree affiliates storm office, staff trapped

What happens when you pull the compensation plan rug out from thousands of affiliate investors and then refuse to communicate anything officially to them? A mob of angry TelexFree affiliates stormed the company’s Massachusetts office, prompting neighboring companies in the building to lodge complaints. TelexFree’s reception staff, complaining themselves about being “unable to walk” amongst [Continue reading…]

Espirito Santo’s IRS fines TelexFree R$70 million

Back in January Alessandra Marques, of the Acre Public Prosecutor’s Office, revealed in a radio interview that TelexFree was under US investigation. In a subsequent telephone conversation with Brazilian media, Marques went on to name the IRS as being involved.

Rwanda bans TelexFree: “It’s a pyramid scheme”

Earlier this month it was revealed that Rwanda had launched an official investigation into the business operations of TelexFree. The investigation formally began on February the 19th and was a joint effort between the National Bank of Rwanda and The Ministry of Trade. Now, a month later the result of the Rwandan investigation has been [Continue reading…]

TelexFree investors revolt, plan changed AGAIN?

Less than a week is all it took for TelexFree’s top affiliate investors to collectively revolt against the company’s new “everybody needs five retail customers” compensation plan. What’s even more amusing is that, if true, the change comes just days after TelexFree charged affiliates $169 each to attend “new compensation plan” training in Boston. Not [Continue reading…]
