Sebastian Greenwood’s OneCoin trial scheduled for May 2023
Sebastian Greenwood and the DOJ have reached an agreement on his OneCoin trial scheduling.
As per a letter motion filed on June 21st, a May 2023 trial date was requested.
The court endorsed the request on June 23rd, scheduling Greenwood’s OneCoin trial for May 15th, 2023.
Beyond working towards consented to dates (the trial date is just one of many dates agreed on), there’s no indication that Greenwood is assisting the DOJ with other OneCoin related proceedings.
Certainly the fact that there’s a trial at all and not a plea agreement seems to confirm this.
As the highest OneCoin executive facing trial in the US, whether Greenwood ultimately proceeds to trial will be interesting to follow.
I suppose given we’re probably talking decades in prison (effectively the rest of Greenwood’s natural life) either way, there’s nothing much to lose rolling the dice on a trial.
Update 17th December 2022 – Karl Greenwood pled guilty to wire fraud and money laundering charges on December 16th, 2022.
Update 13th September 2023 – Sebastian Greenwood has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Would have thought he’d have got a deal.
Might still happen if Scott gets a retrial but things are bit up in the air at the moment.
