Via a letter addressed to the court, David Pike’s attorneys have confirmed the OneCoin money launderer intends to plead guilty.

Pike was arrested last November on charges related to OneCoin money laundering.

Information on the case has been scarce owing to ongoing negotiations between Pike and DOJ.

Last month we got a whiff of Pike likely to change his initial not guilty plea. This has now been confirmed in a letter to the court.

On March 31st Pike’s attorney filed a letter with the court stating;

It is anticipated by the parties that this matter will be resolved by a guilty plea.

A change of plea control date is currently set for April 9, 2020.

The bad news is, due to COVID-19, the purpose of the letter is to request a guilty plea control date extension.

Although the parties are close to finalizing a plea agreement, the final details have not yet been worked out.

Given the current coronavirus crisis and the nationwide virtual shutdown, we request the guilty plea control date be continued for approximately 60 days.

The DOJ has consented to the request, meaning it’s all but certain to gain court approval.

As of yet however there has been no order made. Regardless, sixty days from the end of March puts us roughly at the end of May.

Update 13th June 2020 – Pike’s change of plea control date was scheduled for June 24th.

Citing COVID-19 concerns, on June 11th Pike’s attorney attorneys requested a 90 day continuance.

As of yet there’s no ruling on the motion but I expect it will be granted. I’ll be checking the docket again next week.

Update 29th September 2020 – Following approval of their previous request, once again Pike’s attorney has requested a plea control date postponement.

A new date in early December has been requested, the DOJ has no objection. As of yet there’s no ruling on the letter motion.

Update 6th October 2020 – Pike’s motion has been approved. The new plea control date is December 11th, 2020.

Update 3rd June 2021 – Pike’s plea control date continues to be pushed back.

The latest is a June 1st letter from the DOJ requesting an approximate 90 day extension.

The parties anticipate that an agreement will be reached and request an adjournment of approximately 90 days, to a date and time convenient for the Court.

Pike’s plea control date was otherwise scheduled for June 4th. As of yet no new date has been scheduled

Update 20th October 2021 – Pike’s plea control date was finally held on October 19th.

As per a filed Consent Preliminary Order of Forfeiture, Pike will surrender $2.09 million as part of his judgment.

Update 2nd March 2022 – On March 1st David Pike was sentenced to two years probation.
