Blugenics Review: Gaditana algae supplements
Blugenics operates in the nutritional supplement MLM niche. The company provides a corporate address in Nevada on its website.
Heading up Blugenics we have CEO Paul Redmayne and COO Eric Swaim.
Paul Redmayne is known to BehindMLM as:
- President of Blue Bird Bids, a Zeek Rewards Ponzi clone (2012)
- co-founder of RevStar Global, a Ponzi successor to the notorious Banners Broker Ponzi (2014)
Eric Swaim was Vice-President of Blue Bird Bids. When the Ponzi collapsed, partly due to Swaim raising concerns of internal manipulation, Swaim took control and converted what was left into PureNRG FX.
PureNRG FX launched in 2013 and was done by 2014. Swaim re-joined Redmayne in RevStar Global as Vice President of Sales in 2014.
RevStar Global is long gone and there’s a considerable gap in Redmayne’s and Swaim’s MLM history.
Fast forward to mid 2023 and Redmayne and Swaim launched Bimble Saving Club:
As far as I can tell, Bimble Savings Club was a travel-themed MLM pyramid scheme.
Bimble Savings Club’s website is no longer accessible, which leads into Blugenics launching its MLM opportunity at some point.
I’d love to be a bit more specific but, like Redmayne and Swaim, Blugenics doesn’t have much of a digital footprint.
What I did come across was this 2020 marketing video featuring Dave Hunter, in which he cites himself as founder and CEO of Blugenics Innovations.
Bluegenics Innovations was founded in 2015, originally as a non-MLM company.
As per Blugenics Innovation’s LinkedIn profile;
Blugenics Innovations is a leading Canadian company that specializes in the development and distribution of high-quality marine phytoplankton products.
Our flagship brand, Karen for Good Health, is the largest phytoplankton supplement brand in North America, offering a wide range of health benefits to our customers.
Sometime after Bimble Savings Club collapsed, Hunter appears to have hired Redmayne and Swaim to front an MLM side of the business, Blugenics Naturals.
Note that while Blugenics Innovations is a Canadian company, Blugenics Naturals cites itself as “a U.S based company”. I’m not sure if there’s anything more to that than an LLC shell company registered in Nevada.
To keep things simple this review will simply refer to Blugenics Innovations and Blugenics Naturals as “Blugenics”.
Read on for a full review of Blugenics’ MLM opportunity.
Blugenics’ Products
Blugenics markets a marine phytoplankton (algae) supplement they call Gaditana Original.

Cellular nutrition in it’s [sic] most purest form, Gaditana Original has too many benefits to list…
We cultivate Gaditana Original in a state-of-the-art garden.
Rest assured, you’r [sic] Gaditana Original is NEVER harvested from the ocean, and is guarenteed [sic] to not only be the safest algae product in the world, but also the most effective.

Gaditana Original is also available in pet form, retailing at $69 for 6 grams of powder.
Blugenics Compensation Plan
Blugenics’ compensation plan combines retail commissions with primarily recruitment orientated commissions and bonuses.
Retail commissions
Blugenics affiliates earn commission on the sale of products to retail customers.
Blugenics pays retail commissions as the difference between the wholesale price and retail price of products ordered.
Blugenics Affiliate Ranks
There are nine affiliate ranks within Blugenics’ compensation plan.
Along with their respective qualification criteria, they are as follows:
- Member – sign up as a Blugenics affiliate and commit to a minimum 36 BV monthly product order
- Director – maintain a monthly minimum 36 BV product order and recruit two Members or higher
- Director 2 – maintain a monthly minimum 36 BV product order and recruit four Members or higher
- Director 3 – maintain a monthly minimum 36 BV product order and recruit four Members or higher (note I’m assuming this is a typo and Director 3 requires six recruited Members or higher)
- Director 4 – maintain a monthly minimum 36 BV product order and recruit eight Members or higher
- Junior Director – maintain a monthly minimum 36 BV product order and recruit ten Members or higher
- Senior Director – maintain a monthly minimum 36 BV product order and recruit twelve Members or higher
- Executive Director – maintain a monthly minimum 36 BV product order and recruit sixteen Members or higher
- Presidential Director – maintain a monthly minimum 36 BV product order and recruit twenty Members or higher, or purchase a $499 Presidential VIP Package when you sign up
Recruitment Commissions
Blugenics pays recruitment commissions via a unilevel compensation structure.
A unilevel compensation structure places an affiliate at the top of a unilevel team, with every personally recruited affiliate placed directly under them (level 1):
If any level 1 affiliates recruit new affiliates, they are placed on level 2 of the original affiliate’s unilevel team.
If any level 2 affiliates recruit new affiliates, they are placed on level 3 and so on and so forth down a theoretical infinite number of levels.
Blugenics caps payable unilevel team levels at six.
Recruitment commissions are paid as a percentage of Enrollment Pack fees paid by affiliates recruited into the unilevel team based on rank:
- Member and Director ranked affiliates earn 50% on level 1 (personally recruited affiliates)
- Director 2 ranked affiliates earn 50% on level 1 and 20% on level 2
- Director 3 ranked affiliates earn 50% on level 1, 20% on level 2 and 10% on level 3
- Director 4 ranked affiliates earn 50% on level 1, 20% on level 2 and 10% on levels 3 and 4
- Junior Directors earn 50% on level 1, 20% on level 2, 10% on levels 3 and 4 and 5% on level 5
- Senior Directors and higher earn 50% on level 1, 20% on level 2, 10% on levels 3 and 4 and 5% on levels 5 and 6
Residual Commissions
Blugenics pays residual commissions via a binary compensation structure.
A binary compensation structure places an affiliate at the top of a binary team, split into two sides (left and right):
The first level of the binary team houses two positions. The second level of the binary team is generated by splitting these first two positions into another two positions each (4 positions).
Subsequent levels of the binary team are generated as required, with each new level housing twice as many positions as the previous level.
Positions in the binary team are filled via direct and indirect recruitment of affiliates. Note there is no limit to how deep a binary team can grow.
At the end of each week Blugenics tallies up new sales volume on both sides of the binary team.
An “up to” 10% to 20% residual commission is paid on volume generated on the weaker binary team side:
- Directors earn “up to 10%”, capped at $1000 a week
- Director 2s earn “up to 10%”, capped at $2000 a week
- Director 3s earn “up to 10%”, capped at $4000 a week
- Director 4s earn “up to 10%”, capped at $8000 a week
- Junior Directors earn “up to 20%”, capped at $10,000 a week
- Senior Directors earn “up to 20%”, capped at $15,000 a week
- Executive Directors earn “up to 20%”, capped at $20,000 a week
- Presidential Directors earn “up to 20%”, capped at $30,000 a week
Once paid out on, weaker binary team volume is matched against the stronger binary team side and flushed.
Any leftover volume on the stronger binary team side carries over into the following week.
Matching Bonus
Blugenics pays a Matching Bonus on residual commissions paid on up to four unilevel team levels:
- Junior Directors earn a 20% match on level 1 (personally recruited affiliates)
- Senior Directors earn a 20% match on level 1 and 10% on level 2
- Executive Directors earn a 20% match on level 1, 10% on level 2 and 5% on level 3
- Presidential Directors earn a 20% match on level 1, 10% on level 2 and 5% on levels 3 and 4

Blugenics Conclusion
Algae supplement MLM companies are nothing new. Over the years BehindMLM has reviewed FGXPress (2013) and ForeverGreen (2013).
We’ve also reviewed a bunch of blue-green algae MLM companies but apparently this is different to marine phytoplankton.
Anyway, an ocean algae drink is about as appetizing as you’re picturing it.
And Blugenics’ attempt to address this head on doesn’t exactly hit the mark.
It may take some people time for their body to adapt to the taste of pure nutrition.
Eventually your body will crave the nori-flavor of Gaditana. To help get started, mix with pineapple juice or applesauce to mask the taste!
I had to look up what “nori flavor” was. This is from Fine Dining Lovers;
One of the primary flavours of nori is salt. It has a relatively strong, sea-like flavour without tasting fishy.
Yeah pretty sure my body isn’t going to be ever be craving sea water.
When was the last time you went swimming in the ocean, accidentally took in a mouthful and… Y’know what, I think over time I might crave this. More of this disgusting tasting “pure nutrition” please!”
Seeking to differentiate itself from other MLM companies selling marine phytoplankton supplements, Blugenics claims;
David Hunter has been an advocate for the healing benefits of Marine Phytoplankton since 2006, driven by a personal healing journey and the positive changes he has witnessed in others.
His work with leading growers and scientists has led to significant innovations in phytoplankton nutrition and related fields.
All Phytoplankton you see online is rooted in David Hunter’s efforts. If it is cheap….it is a copycat and they don’t care about your end-result.
They put their product there to “catch the budget friendly consumer who doesn’t know the history of this precious nutrient”. It is grown in artificial seawater (fish behave unnaturally in artificial seawater).
The product looks differently under a microscope (like a discount ugly vegetable) doesn’t get the results and can’t supply contract manufacturers with the proper safety documentation.
If the product is a bit more expensive, it is most likely an innovation David Hunter was a part of before this opportunity was conceived.
I don’t know how true that is but marine phytoplankton supplements are certainly widely available for far less than what Blugenics charges.
This marketing claim on Blugenics website also caught my eye;
Ground-breaking research is being published on Gaditana Original & the benefits offered to dogs in preventing or treating cancer.
We’re excited to share these results with you as soon as they are publish! [sic]
Yeah, not really sure how making cancer claims about purportedly pending (peer-reviewed?) research goes as far as the FTC Act and FDA are concerned.
Personally I think “jumping the gun” is a bit scummy. And I speak from first-hand experience here, especially when it comes to pet owners and cancer.
Dig deeper into Blugenics’ marketing and it’s pretty obvious they believe their supplements can treat all manner of ailments;
Multiple research is showing that there is measurable positive activity going on inside a human or pet when this is consumed.
Nothing has been reported negative. If you just use logic, understand this is a pure form of nutrition. Everyone knows nutritious food is good for you.
We believe our food and nutrition is compromised and over time it generates mild to severe health issues. The body is starving for nutrition, micro nutrients, fatty acids, antioxidants, etc that it NEEDS to operate the body.
If the body receives what it is missing, the body can heal itself. It’s very simple law of cause and effect.
This ironically has never been discovered before, so this is why these results were never seen before.
What exactly are “these results”? I don’t know and Blugenics doesn’t cite any specific examples.
I get the feeling this is kind of “hush hush only behind closed doors” nonsense, because y’know… pesky regulations and all that.
Moving onto Blugenics’ compensation plan, things don’t get any better.
While retail commissions are possible, the core of Blugenics’ compensation plan is very obviously autoship recruitment.
This begins by forcing all recruited affiliates to purchase Blugenics products. And continues by forcing affiliates to purchase products to qualify for MLM commissions.
Naturally, Blugenics autoship is presented as a “commission qualifier” instead of a a way to order required products on a regular schedule.
For your convenience, the company offers you a method, so you never miss your qualification via a Blugenics Monthly Order (BMO).
An MLM company forcing affiliates to purchase products and marketing autoship as a commission qualifier are both examples of “pay to play”.
Pay to play in MLM is a strong indicator of a pyramid scheme.
Again, retail commissions are possible in Blugenics but the bulk of the compensation plan revolves around signing up, going on autoship and recruiting others who do the same.
I also don’t know what’s up with Blugenics’ “up to” residual commissions. As written Blugenics can pay you nothing, or “up to” the specified amount.
Why is this? If I’ve generated volume across my binary team why is an “up to” commission rate paid out? As previously stated, Blugenics don’t explain why this so it remains a mystery until addressed.
Put all of this together and you have:
- a terrible tasting product
- a compensation plan that lends itself to autoship recruitment and
- executives fresh off a previous MLM pyramid scheme collapse
Easy avoid in my mind but otherwise approach with caution.
At a minimum purchase some cheaper marine phytoplankton supplements and decide whether drinkable sea water is even doable.
Update 21st April 2024 – Within 24 hours of this review going live the cited “2020 marketing video featuring Dave Hunter” YouTube video has been marked private.
The video has been publicly available for four years and all we cited from it was Dave Hunter identifying himself as CEO of Blugenics Innovations.
We’re not sure why this information needs to be hidden from the public. Anyway, as a result of the video being marked private, the previously accessible link to the video in this article has been disabled.
Review updated to note Dave Hunter “CEO” YouTube video from 2020 was marked private within 24 hours of publication.
These guys (Eric, Paul, etc.) are a bunch of buffoons’ that have been scamming people for years! Now they are peddling phytoplankton for $80 that you can buy on Amazon for $38!
I don’t care what Dave talks about how his formula is processed in some top secret super laboratory with no peer reviewed studies, doctor endorsements, etc. He will soon find out that he was duped by these guys to partner with them.
Bimble Travel flopped and this is a desperate attempt for Eric and Paul to make back their losses on that.
Here is a Youtube video where Dave talks about how his phytoplankton is reversing cancer, diabetes, migraines, ED, etc., with no real proof whatsoever! Buyer beware!

I‘m surprised by being a member of Blugenics without ever signing ip for it. Early April I received the welcome email with a user ID and my password as freely readable text (!!!).
Not sure if that qualified as a databreach of some sorts but at least it shows they don‘t operate by regular online business standards.
Never heard about the name written as upline. In my view they must have acquired data from other MLMs I tried out in the past.
I don‘t like becoming a member without being asked.
