Valentus beta-phenylethylamine warning issued in Denmark
The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration has issued a warning regarding several of Valentus’ coffee blends.
At issue is the presence of beta-phenylethylamine, also known as PEA, which the DVFA warns ‘can cause headaches, dizziness and high blood pressure.‘
By Valentus’ own admission, beta-phenylethylamine is present in their SlimRoast Optimum and Dark Roast coffee blends.
The DVFA states it issued its August 20th warning after receiving “inquiries from citizens over the summer”.
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has not estimated how much beta-phenylethylamine it is safe to take.
However, the substance is on the list of doping substances which are prohibited for use in competitions.
If you have been drinking the coffee product and experience side effects, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration recommends that you consult your own doctor.
Denmark is the second country to issue a regulatory warning against Valentus’ products in as many months.
Last month the New Zealand Customs and Ministry of Health issued a health warning against Valentus’ SlimRoast coffee.
