Faraday Hosseinipour’s motion for I2G retrial reset
In line with co-defendants Richard Maike and Doyce Barnes, Faraday Hosseinipour’s appeal against her conviction denied.
Curiously however, the Sixth Circuit has sent Hosseinipour’s motion for a new trial back to the District Court to be decided on again.
In affirming Hosseinipour (right), as a top promoter of the Infinity2Global Ponzi scheme, was guilty of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and cosnpiracy to commit securities fraud, the Sixth Circuit noted;
Hosseinipour misrepresented to prospective recruits that “passive income” would allow them to recoup their investments without any recruitment of new members on their part.
Hosseinipour lied about celebrity endorsements of Songstergram (claiming that even Prince had “signed up”).
The defendants also misrepresented to conference attendees the amounts that Anzalone and Hosseinipour received as distributors, by having them display oversized six-figure checks for amounts they did not receive.
When another distributor accused I2G of running a pyramid scheme, Hosseinipour was unequivocal about what the company should do: “There is no alternative except to bury him.”
Whereas Maike’s and Barnes’ sentencing is now final, the Sixth Circuit stated this on Hosseinipour’s motion for a new trial;
We also affirm Hosseinipour’s criminal judgment; except that, as described in our unpublished opinion, we vacate the district court’s denial of her Rule 33 motion for a new trial, and remand her case for the limited purpose of deciding that motion anew.
As above, reasoning for the Sixth Circuit sending Hosseinipour’s motion for a new trial back to the District Court is unpublished. As such we don’t know what the reasoning is.
Given affirmation of the evidence presented against Hosseinipour, one imagines that, even if a new trial was granted, another conviction is highly likely.
As a top promoter of the Infinity2Global Ponzi scheme, Hosseinipour was sentenced to two and a half years in prison in January 2023.
Pending another District Court order on Hosseinipour’s motion for a new trial, stay tuned.
