Kristi Johnson sentencing scheduled for 19th November
Following a series of filed sealings for some months now, Kristi Johnson’s criminal trial has been scheduled for the 19th of November.
It is believed the reason behind the sealed filings (and general secrecy of Johnson’s criminal case) is related to her former partner, Troy Barnes.
Barnes has been uncooperative in parallel civil proceedings, with the status of a criminal investigation into him unknown.
It is expected proceedings will commence against Barnes following the sentencing of Johnson.
Although we don’t know for sure yet due to the sealed filings, it is believed Johnson has provided evidence against Barnes.
Well, so much for this schedule for the trials:
Dates now scheduled are as follows:
•Joinder of Parties/Amendment to Pleadings – October 5, 2015
•Fact Discovery Cut-off – May 20, 2016
•Expert Discovery Cut-off – August 19, 2016
•Dispositive Motions Deadline – August 19, 2016
•Parties shall designate affirmative experts on or before – June 20, 2016
•Parties shall designate rebuttal experts on or before – July 22, 2016
Judge Blackburn has set a Trial Preparation and Final Pretrial Conference for November 18, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. and a seven day jury trial to begin on December 5, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.
That’s the SEC case (civil), this is criminal sentencing.
Not sure to what extent the criminal proceedings will affect the civil case yet. But a streamline is definitely on the table.
