Skinny Body Care Review v2.0
BehindMLM’s original Skinny Body Review was published back in September of 2011.
The Skinny Body Care compensation plan has changed significantly since then. Today we take a look at those changes with an updated Skinny Body Care Review v2.0.
The Company
Skinny Body Care was launched in 2011 and today is still operated by its founder, Ben Glinsky.
For more information on Skinny Body Care and Glinsky’s background see BehindMLM’s original Skinny Body Care review.
The Skinny Body Care Product Line
Skinny Body Care has grown their product line from the flagship Skinny Fiber to six products in total:
- Skinny Fiber – “packed with some of the world’s most POWERFUL weight management ingredients to help get your body into weight management mode”
- Skinny Body Max – “a super-enhanced version of Skinny Fiber”
- HiBurn8 – “manage weight while you sleep”
- E3 – “a revolutionary new blend of Vitamins, Minerals, Nutrients, Herbs, and Electrolytes, the ultimate fuel for your body”
- Instant Youth – “reduce the appearance of aging in 90 seconds”
- Ageless – an “all natural formula (that) is like a nutrient-rich superfood for your skin”
Skinny Body Care do not provide retail pricing on their website without an affiliate referral code.
A compensation plan video however states the recommend retail price for Skinny Body Care products is $79.95.
The Skinny Body Care Compensation Plan
The Skinny Body Care compensation plan heavily emphasizes first product orders with a 40% commission on generated volume.
Residual commissions are paid via a unilevel compensation structure, with affiliates able to place recruited affiliates anywhere in their unilevel team.
Skinny Body Care Affiliate Ranks
There are eight affiliate ranks within the Skinny Body Care compensation plan.
Along with their respective qualification criteria they are as follows:
- Affiliate – sign up as a Skinny Body Care affiliate
- Bronze – recruit at least three affiliates and/or acquire three preferred retail customers who each generate or purchase 50 BV a month
- Silver – have a total monthly downline volume of 600 GV
- Gold – have a total monthly downline volume of 2000 GV
- Platinum – have a total monthly downline volume of 10,000 GV
- Diamond – have a total monthly downline volume of 50,000 GV
- Crown Diamond – have a total monthly downline volume of 250,000 GV
- Royal Crown Diamond – have a total monthly downline volume of 1,000,000 GV
GV stands for “Group Volume” and is sales volume generated by an affiliate’s downline.
A wholesale or retail sale of a Skinny Body Care product (single-purchase) generates 50 GV.
Note that no more than 50% of GV requirements can come from any one unilevel leg.
Commission Qualification
In order to qualify for commissions, a Skinny Body Care affiliate must generate at least 50 PV a month.
PV stands for “Personal Volume” and is sales volume generated by a Skinny Body Care affiliate’s own product purchase or retail customer orders.
Fast Start Enroller Bonus
The Fast Start Enroller Bonus is paid out on the first order made by retail customers on autoship and personally recruited affiliates.
The bonus is paid at a rate of 40% of the commissionable volume generated by the first order.
Monthly Enroller Bonus
The Monthly Enroller Bonus is an additional 10% bonus paid out on orders (after the first) placed by retail customers and personally recruited affiliates.
Fast Start Commissions
Fast Start Commissions are an additional residual commission paid out on top of the Fast Start Enroller Bonus.
The Fast Start Enroller Bonus is paid out via a unilevel compensation structure.
A unilevel compensation structure places an affiliate at the top of a unilevel team, with every personally recruited affiliate placed directly under them (level 1):
If any level 1 affiliates recruit new affiliates, they are placed on level 2 of the original affiliate’s unilevel team.
If any level 2 affiliates recruit new affiliates, they are placed on level 3 and so on and so forth down a theoretical infinite number of levels.
Fast Start Commissions are payable as a percentage down six unilevel levels as follows:
- level 1 (personally recruited affiliates and acquired retail customers) – 10%
- level 2 – 5%
- level 3 – 3%
- levels 4 to 6 – 2%
How many unilevel levels a Skinny Body Care affiliate can earn on is determined by their rank:
- Affiliate to Silver – levels 1 to 3
- Gold to Diamond – levels 1 to 4
- Crown Diamond – levels 1 to 5
- Royal Crown Diamond – levels 1 to 6
Note that the Fast Start Commission is paid out in addition to the Fast Start Enroller Bonus.
A Skinny Body Care affiliate also has the ability to place affiliates within their unilevel team.
Any recruited affiliates who place an affiliate outside of their first six levels forfeits a Fast Start Commission generated by that affiliate.
Conversely if an upline affiliate places a newly recruited affiliate in your first six unilevel commissions, you earn the respective Fast Start Commission generated by that affiliate.
Residual Commissions
Residual commissions in Skinny Body Care are paid out via the same unilevel compensation structure used to pay Fast Start Commissions (see above).
Residual commissions are paid down a total of ten unilevel levels as follows:
- Affiliate – 10% on level 1 (personally recruited affiliates), 5% on level 2 and 3% on level 3
- Bronze – 10% on level 1, 5% on level 2, 3% on level 3 and 2% on level 4
- Silver – 10% on level 1, 5% on level 2, 3% on level 3 and 2% on levels 4 and 5
- Gold – 10% on level 1, 5% on level 2, 3% on level 3 and 2% on levels 4 to 6
- Platinum – 10% on level 1, 5% on level 2, 3% on level 3 and 2% on levels 4 to 7
- Diamond – 10% on level 1, 5% on level 2, 3% on level 3 and 2% on levels 4 to 8
- Crown Diamond – 10% on level 1, 5% on level 2, 3% on level 3 and 2% on levels 4 to 9
- Royal Crown Diamond – 10% on level 1, 5% on level 2, 3% on level 3 and 2% on levels 4 to 10
Generation Bonus
A generation in Skinny Body Care’s compensation plan is defined when a Platinum or higher ranked affiliate is found in a unilevel leg.
Once found, the Platinum or higher ranked affiliate caps off the first generation. The second generation then begins after the affiliate, up until another Platinum or higher ranked affiliate is found.
Using this definition of a generation, Skinny Body Care affiliates are able to earn an additional percentage on volume generated by their downline.
- Platinum ranked affiliates earn 2% on first and second generations and 1% on the third and fourth
- Diamond ranked affiliates earn 2% on first and second generations and 1% on the third to fifth
- Crown Diamond ranked affiliates earn 1% on first to third generations
- Royal Crown Diamond affiliates earn 1% on first and second generations
Infinity Matching Bonus
The Infinity Matching Bonus is paid out using the same generational structure as the Generation Bonus
The bonus itself is a matching bonus on commissions paid to affiliates within seven generations as follows:
- Bronze – 10% match on personally recruited affiliates
- Silver – 15% match on personally recruited affiliates
- Gold – 15% match on personally recruited affiliates, 3% on the first generation and 2% on the second and 1% on the third
- Platinum – 20% match on personally recruited affiliates and 5% on the first to fourth generations
- Diamond – 20% match on personally recruited affiliates and 5% on the first to fifth generations
- Crown Diamond – 20% match on personally recruited affiliates and 3% on the first to sixth generations
- Royal Crown Diamond – 20% match on personally recruited affiliates and 2% on the first to seventh generations
Gold Pool
The Gold Pool is made up of 5% of company-wide sales volume generated by Skinny Body affiliates.
Affiliates qualify for a share in the Gold Pool by recruiting five affiliates and/or preferred retail customers.
For recruited affiliates and customers to count, they must place an order for that month.
Rank Achievement Bonus
When a Skinny Body Care affiliate qualifies at the Gold and higher ranks, the following Rank Achievement Bonuses are awarded:
- Gold – $250
- Platinum – $1000
- Diamond – $5000
- Crown Diamond – $25,000
- Royal Crown Diamond – $100,000
If a Skinny Body Care affiliate has three personally recruited Royal Crown Diamond ranked affiliates, they receive $300,000.
Joining Skinny Body Care
Skinny Body Care affiliate membership $10 plus the purchase of products:
- purchase one bottle of product at the $59.95 wholesale price
- purchase a “Bonus Pack” (2 bottles of product with 1 free) at the $119.85 wholesale price
- purchase a “Premier Pack” (buy three products and get three free) at the wholesale price of $179.70
- purchase a “Three Month Qualifying Pack” for $179.85 (three bottles of products for the price of two)
- purchase a “Six Month Qualifying Pack” for $359.70 (get six bottles of Skinny Body Care products for the price of three)
Conclusion
Skinny Body Care has grown since 2011 into what appears to be a relatively healthy MLM opportunity today.
The compensation plan has been simplified, although can be clunky with all the order bonus overlapping commissions.
When evaluating Skinny Body Care as a whole, it’s hard not to ignore the pushing of products onto affiliates as a commission qualifier.
This starts when an affiliate signs up and must make mandatory purchase of Skinny Body Care products.
This paves the way for pay to play, which should always be avoided in MLM.
That said it is entirely possible for a Skinny Body Care affiliate to sign up and qualify for commissions with retail orders.
Whether this is actually happening or not in significant numbers is another matter.
Mandatory product purchases by all newly recruited Skinny Body Care affiliates serves as a defacto recruitment commission.
One might get away with claiming otherwise if the product purchases were optional, but they’re not.
Furthermore Skinny Body Care are pretty blase about the intent behind affiliate purchases. Two of the five purchase options are named “qualifying packs” and qualify an affiliate for commissions for up to six months alone.
Stay Active and Fully Qualified to Earn Commissions with 50BV in Personal Volume for your first 6 Months.
While there is nothing inherently problematic about affiliates purchasing products, to do so to qualify for commissions encourages chain-recruitment.
That is you sign up as a new Skinny Body Care affiliate, purchase products to qualify for commissions and get paid when you recruit new affiliates who do the same.
In this scenario the products become irrelevant and the income opportunity itself becomes what is actually being marketed and sold.
The fact that affiliates are forced to purchase products when they sign up and will likely qualify for commissions via their own autoship order counters any claim that products might be purchased based on their value alone.
This comes at the expense of retail, which while possible is typically ignored in favor of chain-recruitment.
As it stands there are no retail sales qualifiers in Skinny Body Care. You can sign up as a new affiliate, whack yourself on autoship and get paid solely for focusing on recruiting others who do the same.
The good news is ascertaining whether or not this is taking place is relatively easy.
As a potential Skinny Body Care affiliate, you want to compare your potential upline’s true retail volume (which excludes any product they themselves have purchased), and compare this to their monthly personally recruited affiliate GV.
A second check you can do is on their Fast Start Enroller Bonus. Ask for their past three Fast Start Enroller Bonus amounts and verify whether they were primarily earned on retail or recruited affiliate orders.
What you’re looking for is a healthy mix of recruited affiliates and retail volume, ideally weighted towards retail.
Little to no retail volume and an affiliate self-qualifying for commissions via autoship is strongly indicative of a product-based pyramid scheme (such as Vemma).
Pending the outcome to your own research, Skinny Body Care has otherwise been around for some time now and established itself within the MLM industry.
Retail qualifiers and removal of affiliate purchases as commission qualifiers would be great additions to the Skinny Body Care compensation plan.
Product-wise the offering is strongly niche orientated, which makes identifying and staying focused on a target market easier.
$79.95 a month does however seem a little high as far as monthly costs for a weight-loss product in a bottle goes.
Before you commit, it might be worth checking out what’s alternatively available via local health stores in your area.
Good luck!
Have you looked at the recruiting process they use?
That alone tells you how they use fear of loss as a tactic to get people to join.
Where they feel they are getting a downline built for them and free money.
When the truth is they are only getting two members placed under them and a tiny commission.
No matter how many members they see in their “powerline”.
Many join thinking it will be easy and its still a recruiting game not a selling products system.
So if I want six bottles, it’s $479.70 (79.95×6)
OR, pay $10 bucks to sign up with the premier pack (anyone can), and get my six bottles for $179.70!!!
Am I missing something?
How the heck are you supposed to make money retailing when you’re faced with that option available to your customer?
Maybe they don’t retail that and it’s just another gimmick to get someone to become an affiliate.
Occams razor.
Great update. I have been blessed to have found this company back in 2011′ and have made it my home. I will not make comments as I would come off as biased but will answer any questions / cover anything that is not accurate.
SBC is a RETAIL driven company. Yes, we are making a lot of noise now with the new 2.0 system and marketers are joining like crazy but we have been here almost 6 years solid doing over 80% customers. Real people buying product and NOT joining as a rep much less even knowing we have a MLM business model.
The marketing system is a choice to utilize. It is that system that has exploded and has people taking another serious look at us.
Yes, it uses the power line and the 2.0 compensation plan was actually created to be congruent with each other. No where does it promote getting involved and making money doing nothing.
It does attract those that want a free ride and they don’t last and form a bad opinion like the comment above as they typically joined, had a power line team, but had an expectation of getting paid just taking a position.
Customers: I challenge anyone to review our monthly leader board. You will notice month after month our top people are all customer driven.
We have people insane income just gathering customers month in and month out. They do not use the power line system and they do NOT recruit many Distributers. These are REAL customers. We have a system we teach that gathers customers only.
There is only a 1 order (PV) required to take advantage of the entire compensation plan. I personally use the product. There is NO front loading or any other requirement to get all compensation and bonuses.
There is NO required Autoship. We do have that option as it is convenient to the Distributers and our customers. You can reach your PV via an order, a personal sale, or a retail sale using our retail site that not only gives you the pv but pays a small commission.
The commissions are 50% on all orders. For those that utilize our power line system you earn 40% and we pay the 10% out to two levels up. This is the 2 people referred to in the comment above.
Yes, it’s a small commission but they have done absolutely NOTHING. This is to show we pay on time and the system works. It is not a get in, do nothing, and get paid system.
There is NO incentive to join as a rep to get product cheaper. Unlike the remark above there is no get 6 for 479.00. Its buy 3 and Get 3 Free across the board for everyone. So a custom gets 6 for 179.00 and does Not pay a one time $10.00.
Hope this helps.
So are you saying then, if I pay $10, I make 50% on my own order and ultimately only have to pay $89.50 for six bottles?
No. All our products are 59.95. That’s for customers / reps.
To be a rep it’s a one time $10.00 enrollement and an order.
We also have a buy 2 and get one free and a buy 3 get 3 free. All with a money back guarantee.
1 month a one bottle and 90 days on the others.
We don’t upsell and there is no monetary reason to come in at the larger packages other than having product you can retail as your paying half price. Our average orders is the 2 PAC.
We also have a 10 and 20 pack for retailers. We do. It offer this at the entry level, there is. I incentive monetarily for it other than your getting a. I’ll order so cost per product is lower. As I mentioned above we do not do any front loading.
So to answer you question you would pay 69.00 to join as a member with one order. 6 bottles would be 179.00 plus 10.00. You do not get commission on you personal order. That would not make sense.
Hope that helped.
This is not true. Larger packages come with up to six months of commission qualification.
Skinny Body Care themselves pitch the larger packages with this selling point:
Let me explain how that works accurately.
Those are NOT larger packages. That feature was added at the request of our international agents in certain areas that wanted it.
It is rarely utilized but available. It is NOT a larger order nor does it have any advantage of purchasing it other than convenience and if I had to guess the money fluctuations….
When that is ordered they are basically given a 6 month credit. They receive 1 product and not 6. They are shipped 1 order and commissions are paid on that one order. No benefit to the sponsor or to the compensation plan other than the normal 1 order.
When the second month comes up and they want to order they have to manually log in and order. 1 product is shipped and the account that was pre-paid in advance is debited for 1 order. This happens for 6 months.
They have the same money back guarantee and if they cancel or quit that is there money and no one is charged back as we don’t pay any advances. Thats why it say’s up to 6 months qualifications. Thats the DT and not the sponsor.
Again we have no incentive in the compensation to push larger packages. You can reach the top of the compensation plan again joining with one order and staying active with one order for personal use, to retail it, or to sell it.
What’s there to explain?
A Skinny Body Care affiliate pays more money for a larger package and gets six months commission qualification, as advertised by Skinny Body Care themselves.
That directly contradicts your claim that ‘there is no monetary reason to come in at the larger packages’.
I guess you have not seen many of the marketing videos that hype up just signup and watch as we build your downline.
Come on you are fooling no one with the retail part.
Which is why once people see the truth they leave or don’t pay to join period.
see notorious scammer steve lawson is joining says it all. he can’t pick a money game that doesn’t fail.
I admit that I’m a bit confused.
I’d like to know what kind of sale, and what price my 50% commission will be calculated? 59.95?
Thanks
Not here to argue:
Just to be clear: The qualifying packages are the same as a one pack order. Three is a 3 month and a 6 month qualifier pack. The rep get 1 bottle month 1 and it pays the commission month 1.
The second month the rep logs in and chooses what they want month two. They are sent 1 bottle and commissions go out the same as a second month order. There is NO benefit to the enrollees elect the qualifier package. The enrollees only earns the ONE bottle sale month 1.
The enroller does not get that month 2. He is paid at the same as if the rep joined with one bottle and stayed active month 2.
There is NO advantage in income other than having a active member for 3-6 months but they can cancel so it is NO advantage on those. The ONLY people that really use that are in Russia.
As far as the comment we are not customer driven? All I can say is look at our leaderboard, contact me, and I can easily show you in real time. We are doing well over 70% customers and thats with the Powerline system.
Is the leaderboard showing all the members?
Probably not – I am sure the income disclosure is the real truth of what is going on within the company.
I think you are here for a reason but I am not exactly sure what that is at this point.
My back office shows customers. I don’t mind sharing it with you. Search me out and I will show you our IDS. I have nothing to hide. I am always here.
I love this site even though many hate it. I even said in my opening remark that I appreciate this review and took is a good review in the grand scheme of things.
I have been with SBC since it basically launched Jan 11′ . I just jumped on to be transparent. If there is a question ask. With the state of the industry right now I think everyone should utilize this site.
Why on planet earth would I make a claim we do over 70% customers? If it was not true you could put me on blast. It is something we are very proud of.
I am talking real people, buying product, and not a member much less know our business model. We do not cook the books and count unqualified reps as customers or any of that funny stuff.
Again I did not comment to recruit anyone, debate, sell SBC, etc.
So, the 79.95 number doesn’t exist.
Everybody pays 59.95 for one bottle. – The rep makes $29.97 (50%) for every bottle he sells.
Everyone can buy 6 at a time for a discount $179.95 (3 + 3 free) – Rep makes $89.93 every time the customer orders this deal.
But rep has to pay 59.95 to qualify each month? $29.97 over wholesale? That wholesale number being the other 50% after commission is paid. Why is rep paying them retail when he’s doing the work selling for the company? It should be free.
One measly bottle a month isn’t too much to ask for their salesman! But at least sell it to him for wholesale, geez!
And, under their current 1 bottle requirement at retail, and if I’m a rep who consumes more than one bottle, I would place an order for John Smith and get my 50% commission back and drink it myself for net $29.97. No?
Close.
The 79,95 is the suggested retail price. It’s 59.95 for 1 product. Then there is a buy 2 get 1 free and a buy 3 get 3 free.
Each order has a BV (Business volume). This is what the company pays out. Each order has a 50.00 BV. so it is:
1 order = 50 BV = $25.00 to the enroller.
2 get 1 free = 100Bv = $50.00
3 get 3 = 150.00 BV = 75.00
It is not wholesale as we pay out up to the entire BV. Not just 50% to sponsor. The price is also lower on the larger packages for that reason.
So, The one bottle is for personal consumption, you can sell it to someone at your cost of 59.95 to try it, you can retail it at retail and pocket the difference, etc.
If John smith want to order you could use those options or the easiest way is give him your customer site and he can order 1 for 59.95 wholesale and you would earn a minimum of 50% of the BV up to more if you are ranked up in the compensation plan as you get the codes.
Hope that helps… Great question.
It seems to me that the term “wholesale” is used very loosely. $59.95 is hardly “wholesale” if that’s what all the people buying the product are paying.
You said the rep gets $25 back on extra bottles sold. Perhaps eBay or Amazon etc. would be good place for that.
Anyway, my original point was, why allow the rep to make $25 off of me for every bottle I buy when for $10, I can become him?
Please remind me, why is the worker forced to pay his employer retail, 59.95 once a month, when he’s doing the work for the company?. Shouldn’t it be the other way around and they pay him?
I don’t think companies are in the habit of giving away half their merchandise for free. It’s just another way of saying, 179.95 + 10 divided by 6. $32 is closer to what the company is averaging.
Also, 59.95 – $25 kick back is 34.95. This again being in the $32 – $35 range supporting what I just suggested is the actual value.
Sounds like each worker is forced to pay roughly an extra $28 a month to participate in the opportunity and that gets divied out up the chain.
The lady below isn’t too happy:
complaintsboard.com/complaints/skinny-body-care-scammed-c630172.html?page=8
What’s even more interesting is she stopped buying the product once she figured out she wasn’t going to make money. Rather, was only buying it because she thought she would.
You simply crack me up and don’t seem to read and keep saying the same thing looking for something that is not there.
Wholesale is 59.95 again. Customers get wholesale buy purchasing direct online with a DT.
A DT pay $10.00 one time and gets wholesale at 59.95. No you can not join for 10.00 and start getting $25.00 back on your personal order.
I did NOT say reps get anything on extra bottles. If you purchase the bigger package of the buy 2 get 1 free your getting 3 bottles cheaper than buying 1 right. Same on a buy 3 get 3 free. Your getting 6 bottles at the price of 3 so your getting them cheaper.
You can wholesale them and keep the profit, you can retail them for 79.95 and keep the profit. You can give them away. You can NOT buy from yourself and get a commission.
The woman in the complaint was someone that wanted something for nothing… PERIOD. She was expecting to get in and do nothing and get paid.
This is NOT a money game nor some pyramid. She got paid on 3 levels and that it…Period. so 3 people.
This is NOT PaY to Play. Don’t know who sponsored her nor believe what she was told but has absolutely nothing to do with anything.
If she joined the entire compensation plan and video’s are in the back office that explain everything. There is absolutely NO misleading in the presentations.
If you want to review them find me and ask. I will challenge you to find anything misleading.
Yes, she bought in to make money doing nothing, not reading nothing, and playing the blame game. She can or could just send it back and get a refund as thats life. People will complain the sky is blue but thats life.
Again for the last time… There is NO kick Back. You cannot join and get paid on your personal orders. There is No $25.00 back!
BTW we have a retail site. So a person does NOT have to be on autoship to earn.
I am NOT on Autoship. I get my personal BV without it. The requirement to get paid on the entire compensation plan is to be active with 1 order a month i.e.. 1 for personal consumption.
Sell one retail and earn $20.00 and the 50 bv is covered internally. Make 2 sales wholesale/sell a 2 pac get 1 free wholesale, or a 3 pac get 3 free wholesale. Thats it!
No autoship required but most do it to protect there income.
I also will repeat it 1000000 times and can prove it. We do over 70% customers to DT’s.
Our top earners don’t even use the marketing system and do nothing but gather customers and NOT DT’s. I am talking people buying the products online from our DT’s and are NOT DT’s or even know we are a MLM period.
The problem companies are having is Pay to Play. A one order for personal consumption/to sale/to give away is not frowned upon in the grand scheme of things in my opinion.
Its the front loading and/or the requirement to buy in big packages or required to buy more/sell more to qualify for higher earnings/advancements/bonuses etc. Here your only requirement is 50 PV a month. You can make 100 million dollars here and still the only requirement is 50BV a month period.
Hope this helps.
Affiliate purchase of product is supposed to be for genuine personal use. Affiliates purchasing product to secure income is indicative of a product-based pyramid scheme.
Why are affiliates purchasing Skinny Body Care products to “protect their income” when you claim 70% of products sold are to retail customers?
Figures don’t add up… unless a small percentage of Skinny Body Care affiliates generate the majority of retail sales, with everybody else on autoship and getting paid because they’ve recruited other affiliates on autoship etc.
Umm, there’s my $25 right there. ^^^^^^^ (After my one autoship bottle under my name to qualify).
Anything else “I” drink will be ordered by my Uncle John so I can make back $25 bucks.
