Monat co-founder arrested for aggravated battery in Florida
Monat co-founder Luis Urdaneta has been arrested in Florida.
As reported by NBC Miami on February 12th, Urdaneta was “arrested on an aggravated battery charge”.
So the reporting goes, Urdaneta was behind the wheel of a Rolls Royce.
The victim was positioning a barricade for a street closure when he noticed a Rolls Royce traveling with the intention of entering the closure, the report said.
The victim waved at the driver, Urdaneta, that he had to turn around and go the opposite direction but the driver refused and started to enter the street closure while the victim was in his direct path, the report said.
Urdaneta intentionally drove forward, hitting and pushing the victim out of the way, the report said.
Urdanete fled the scene, later telling police “the victim suddenly jumped in front of him”.
Urdaneta was booked into jail and later went before a judge, who granted him a $5,000 bond.

While not strictly MLM related, Urdaneta’s behavior does perhaps tie into a 2024 lawsuit filed by former Monat President Stuart MacMillan.
In his lawsuit, MacMillan claimed Urdaneta and his son “were treating Monat like a mafia family behind the scenes”.
MacMillan and the Urdanetas settled in January 2025. Worth a read for some insight into how Monat is run.
