8 QNet promoters arrested in Ghana, 120 hostage victims freed
Another eight QNet promoters have been arrested in Ghana.
The scammers were in charge of 120 victims, being held hostage in a “compound house”.
Ghanaian authorities made the arrests on April 7th, in the Knust District in Southern Ghana.
Five of the QNet promoters are believed to be Ghanaian. The other three are Nigerian nationals.
GhanaWeb reports the Ghanaian suspects have “since been detained to assist police investigations”.
The Nigerians
were handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service for further action.
Ghana has long struggled to contain promotion of the QNet pyramid scheme nationally.
- 52 QNet promoters were deported from Ghana in 2019
- QNet promoters were busted posing as National Security Operatives in 2020
- in July 2021 a Ghanaian QNet recruit committed suicide after taking out a crippling loan to join the pyramid scheme
- in August 2021 Ghanaian authorities made arrests in connection to hostage recruitment
- another fifteen Ghanaian QNet promoters were arrested in October 2021, freeing 396 hostage recruits
- armed youth fought back against QNet promoters operating in their area, stabbing the scammers and threatening to burn down their office
Ghanaian authorities consider promotion of QNet a “possible security threat”.
While authorities do their best to arrest QNet promoters, the pyramid scheme has the support of Ghana’s Ministry of Business Development.
In March 2021 Joe Tackie, Chief Director of the Ministry of Business Development, stated it was ‘glad to have QNET in Ghana for the long haul.’
Ghanaian authorities have petitioned the High Court to dissolve QNet nationally.
That case is still playing out.
Update 4th November 2022 – Following a regulatory enforcement action against the company, QNet has been ordered to get out of Ghana.
Well, at least those people were arrested. In Ecuador even the CEO (?) of “Big Money” Scam was tortured and assassinated and nothing happened:
