Convicted OneCoin money launderer Mark Scott has been disbarred in Florida.

Both Florida and New York moved to disbar Scott following his money laundering and bank fraud conviction in November 2019.

Scott (right), 57, had been a member of the Florida Bar since 1998, and the New York Bar since 1996.

Scott’s New York disbarment went through in October 2020. Scott managed to stall Florida disbarment proceedings pending the outcome of various appeals.

Said outcome played out as follows:

  • Scott’s motion for a new trial was denied in December 2021
  • Scott’s appeal against denial of his motion for a new trial was denied
  • the Supreme Court declined to hear Scott’s Writ of Certiorari on his motion for a new trial on October 6th, 2025

The stay on Scott’s Florida disbarment proceedings was lifted on November 6th, 2025. Instead of letting disbarment proceedings run their course, Scott filed a petition in the Supreme Court of Florida on January 21st, 2026.

In his petition Scott requested “disciplinary revocation with leave to apply for readmission [to the bar]”.

Additionally, Scott offered to reimburse the Florida Bar for $1250 in legal costs, as well as a “Client’s Security Fund” on “claims resulting from [Scott’s] misconduct”.

In its response to Scott’s petition, the Florida Bar stated it “supports the petition”.

The Florida Bar requests that this Court grant the Petition for Disciplinary Revocation and that the Court award costs to The Florida Bar.

The Florida Supreme Court noted the petition was uncontested and granted it on April 3rd, 2026. Scott was given leave to seek readmission to the bar in five years.

The original case filed by the Florida Bar noted the Florida Supreme Court petition outcome and closed the Bar’s case on April 3rd.

Scott meanwhile has been doing everything he can to avoid commencing his ten year prison sentence, handed down in January 2024.

In a mostly redacted letter to the court filed on May 5th, Scott requested a “final adjournment” of his surrender date from May 15th to June 1st.

The DOJ opposed the request but, having been overruled for two and a half years, didn’t bother filing a response.

The court granted Scott’s “final adjournment” on May 12th. Whether Scott actually surrenders on June 1st or files a “final final adjournment” request remains to be seen.

Update 5th June 2026 – Mark Scott has surrender and is now being held at the Miami FCI facility.
