Shuang Hor began as Double Crane Enterprises in 1987.

The company is based out of Taiwan and was founded by “a group of Taiwanese entrepreneurs”.

In 1996 Double Crane Enterprises was “restructured” and renamed to Shuang Hor.

I’m not sure why, but in Taiwan the official company website is still branded Double Crane Global.

The company seems to otherwise be known as Shuang Hor in English, so from here on out to avoid confusion I won’t be using Double Crane Global.

Since 1996 Shuang Hor has branched out into Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Myanmar (operating as Double Crane Co.).

The Shuang Hor website (Taiwan) identifies Ku Ping-Chia (right) as CEO of the company.

Beyond a name and Chinese language marketing video, Shuang Hor provide no information on Ping-Chia.

Likely due to language-barriers, I was unable to turn up any third-party information myself.

On their website Shuang Hor cite a commitment to “honest management, stable growth, and zero-criticisms in the past 30 years”.

Shuang Hor grow their own lingzhi mushrooms in twelve greenhouses in Taiwan.

Unique to Doublecrane, our lingzhi species are cultivated using professional technologies to create the best conditions for lingzhi growth.

In particular, we use computers to monitor and manage the growth environment in the entire greenhouse, and we gather data all year round from internal/external meteorological stations, in order to mitigate environmental influences (temperature/humidity, natural disaster, external pollutants) and thereby produce lingzhi mushrooms with consistent quality and ample supply to meet global demand.

Shuang Hor claim their lingzhi supplements “work in 90% of cases”.

The company also markets a range of general supplements, health drinks, personal care, cleaning and water filters.

There are too many products to list here individually, but a full catalog with retail pricing is available on the Shuang Hor website.

The Shuang Hor Compensation Plan

The Shuang Hor compensation plan pays affiliates for selling products to retail customers.

Residual commissions are paid out via a unilevel compensation structure based on monthly sales volume production.

Additional performance-based bonuses are also offered.

Shuang Hor Affiliate Ranks

There are nine affiliate ranks within the Shuang Hor compensation plan.

Along with their respective qualification criteria, they are as follows:

  • Affiliate – sign up as a Shuang Hor affiliate
  • Elite – generate at least 13,000 PV a month
  • Vice Manager – personally recruit at least one Elite or higher qualified affiliate
  • Senior Vice Manager – personally recruit at least three Elite or higher qualified affiliates
  • Special Vice Manager – personally recruit at least five Elite or higher qualified affiliates
  • Diamond – personally recruit at least seven Elite or higher qualified affiliates
  • Double Diamond – personally recruit at least nine Elite or higher qualified affiliates
  • Triple Diamond – personally recruit at least eleven Elite or higher qualified affiliates
  • Gold Diamond – personally recruit at least thirteen Elite or higher qualified affiliates

PV stands for “Personal Volume” and is sales volume generated by sales to retail customers and an affiliate’s own product orders

Retail Commissions

Shuang Hor affiliates earn a retail commission of 25% of sales volume generated via sale of products to retail customers.

Residual Commissions

Shuang Hor pay residual commissions via a unilevel compensation structure.

A unilevel compensation structure places an affiliate at the top of a unilevel team, with every personally recruited affiliate placed directly under them (level 1):

If any level 1 affiliates recruit new affiliates, they are placed on level 2 of the original affiliate’s unilevel team.

If any level 2 affiliates recruit new affiliates, they are placed on level 3 and so on and so forth down a theoretical infinite number of levels.

At the end of each month Shuang Hor tally up GV created throughout the unilevel team.

Based on monthly PV production, a Shuang Hor affiliate is paid a percentage of GV generated within their unilevel team as follows:

  • 400 GV = 4%
  • 800 GV = 8%
  • 1600 GV = 12%
  • 3200 GV = 16%
  • 5200 GV = 20%
  • 8800 GV = 24%
  • 13,000 GV or more = 28%

GV stands for “Group Volume” and is sales volume generated by an affiliate and their unilevel team.

Leadership Bonus

The Leadership Bonus is a bonus percentage paid on sales volume generated by personally recruited Elite and higher ranked affiliates and their downlines.

  • Vice Manager ranked affiliates receive a 6.7% bonus
  • Senior Vice Manager ranked affiliates receive a 4% bonus
  • Special Vice Manager ranked affiliates receive a 2.7% bonus
  • Diamond ranked affiliates receive a 1.3% bonus
  • Double Diamond ranked affiliates and higher receive a 0.7% bonus

Rank Achievement Bonus

Shuang Hor pay affiliates a one-time bonus for qualifying at the Vice Manager and higher ranks:

  • Special Vice Manager – $5000 SGD ($3666 USD)

Profit Sharing

Although not mentioned in official Shuang Hor compensation documentation, some affiliate marketing presentations I viewed mentioned a Profit Sharing component.

This is advertised as a share in 50% profit sharing for 15 years for Vice Manager and higher ranked affiliates.

Diamond Car Fund and Year-end Bonus

Shuang Hor compensation documentation mentions a Diamond Car Fund and Year-end Bonus.

When you qualify yourself as a Diamond Distributor, you are entitled to the Diamond Car Fund.

Shuang Hor allocates the Year-end Bonus every year as a reward to all Diamond Distributors in recognition of their unreserved commitment and contributions to Shuang Hor Business.

Beyond the above descriptions no specifics on either bonus are provided.

Joining Shuang Hor

Shuang Hor affiliate membership requires purchase of a “Starter Kit” for $20 SGD (~$14 USD).

Conclusion

Although used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2000 years, in the west the medicinal properties of lingzhi mushrooms aren’t officially recognized.

I’m not here to tell you whether or not Shuan Hor’s ganoderma supplements work as advertised. What I can tell you though is the company has been around for thirty years and seem pretty dedicated to growing the purest lingzhi variety possible.

Shuang Hor’s supplements are very much marketed as medicine, complete with relief from specific symptoms.

The company doesn’t name any specific diseases but does tout general healing properties it claims “works in 90% of cases”.

Shuang Hor cites accreditation to back up its claims.

The only accreditation specifically referenced on the Shuang Hor website is that of the Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF).

As per the TAF website,

The Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF) is the only body in Taiwan recognised by Government for the accreditation of conformity assessment against international standards.

This is obviously accreditation of Shuang Hor’s manufacturing process, as opposed to medical claims associated with their supplements.

Shuang Hor conduct research and development in a TAF certified laboratory, wherein they test their supplements on animals.

In our TAF-certified lab, we conduct stringent testing and monitoring the quality and safety data of the raw materials we produced.

In addition, we use precision equipment to ensure the efficacy of our products.

In an internationally approved clean animal room built for animal care, Doublecrane uses a non-invasive, high-level molecular imaging approach to verify treatment efficacy and reduce animal sacrifice.

Shuang Hor appear to test their products on mice.

Still, there’s nothing about accreditation related to lingzhi medical claims made by Shuang Hor on their website.

That said lingzhi is an established medicinal remedy in Chinese medicine and you’re probably not going to have to try hard to convince someone of Asian descent about its healing properties – with or without clinical evidence.

Accordingly, Shuang Hor’s ganoderma supplements are priced from general supplements to capsules and powders that target specific symptoms.

I can’t see myself forking over $300+ for a box of mushroom supplements but I’m probably not the company’s target demographic.

Whereas Shuang Hor might face issues in the west from regulators over their medical claims, this doesn’t appear to be an issue in the countries it operates in.

Moving onto the compensation plan, Shuang Hor is refreshingly straight-forward for an established MLM company.

One small criticism I have relates to presentation, at least in English. As you’ve no doubt realized in this review I’ve had to pool information from a number of sources from a number of countries.

This means some figures are quoted in New Taiwan Dollars and others in Singapore Dollars. Some sources used the Malaysian Ringgit but thankfully provided equivalents in SGD.

Shuang Hor’s compensation plan isn’t hard to understand, with a uniform compensation document a welcome addition in each country’s respective currency.

And while we’re at it, how about deciding once and for all whether you want to be known as Double Crane Enterprises or Shuang Hor?

Shuang Hor’s compensation plan itself is pretty fair and relies on a minimum 400 PV monthly production to earn residual commissions.

Ideally at least half of this would be via retail sales but there’s no specific requirement.

Much of the Shuang Hor marketing material I went over strives to differentiate the company from “traditional” Asian MLM opportunities.

This is true to extent Shaung Hor isn’t just another affiliate auotship recruitment scheme. Minimal affiliate recruitment is required to advance the compensation plan ranks though.

PV requirements that correspond with rank increase such that retail has to be taking place. That said retail PV requirements (min 50%) would ensure this is taking place.

I’m not how much PV Shuang Hor’s products generate (this information would be another welcome addition on the company website), but 13,000 PV to max out base unilevel commissions seems unreasonable via personal purchase.

I don’t see anyone spending thousands of dollars each month to generate required PV. Especially when retail of a readily retailable product line is a much simpler alternative.

Being a supplement, along with Shuang Hor’s other products, which I get the feeling are complimentary to the supplements rather than primary products in and of themselves, repeat orders for retail customers should be easy enough.

I would however be very careful about potentially overstated the medicinal benefit of the supplements with respect to specific individual circumstances your potential retail customers might have.

Other than that if you’re sold on the benefits of ganoderma supplements and based in one of the countries it operates in, Shuang Hor presents itself as a solid MLM opportunity with a strong retail focus. Good luck!
